Компания SBT была основана в 1997 году во Флориде, США. Грег Пикрен, основатель компании, к тому времени ставший профессионалом в автомобильном бизнесе, заинтересовался тем фактом, что в области гидроциклов (PWC  -Personal Watercraft) нет поставщиков восстановленных двигателей и решил воспользоваться этим и после глубокого изучения рынка запустил SBT. Хотя г-н Пикрен не был экспертом в гидроциклах, он положился на свой опыт в автомобильной промышленности, и построил фабрику по производству и восстановлению двигателей для гидроциклов, с заявкой на то что она станет крупнейшим поставщиком в мире.
Уже в первый год фабрика SBT восстановила более 2000 двигателей, в следующем году эта цифра увеличилась в пять раз и достигла 10000 двигателей. В 2005 году компания расширила свою деятельность и помимо восстановления двигателей для гидроциклов, запустила линию по производству собственных деталей для гидроциклов. На данный момент ассортимент выпускаемой продукции составляет более 5000 наименований запчастей для гидроциклов Sea Doo, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Polaris, Tigershark и Honda. Клиенты компании SBT находятся в 177 странах мира.
